Davis Graduate School of International Relations

The Davis Graduate School of International Relations (DGSIR) is a five-year program, that combines master and doctorate degrees.
It has a graduate school structure, similar to leading programs worldwide.

 

The program is the result of a collaboration between the Department of International Relations and the Davis Institute for International Relations at the Hebrew University.
The training course is five years long: the course opens with two years of research studies, during which the student is given a systematic, in-depth and critical acquaintance with the latest research in the field and develops the necessary discussion, critique, analysis and writing skills for international relations research. Upon completion of this part of the training, the student will be eligible for a master's degree.
The next three years in the track are devoted to selected courses at the advanced level and to the writing of the doctoral dissertation (format of a monograph or of articles).

The program prepares students for integration into academic life, including creating a professional social network, independent academic research and in collaboration with senior researchers and research fellows, and presenting the fruits of research at conferences in Israel and around the world.
The program is designed to put research students at the forefront of the breakthrough of international relations research. The courses are advanced research courses, they provide in-depth study and deal with complex dilemmas of the discipline.

The program is intended for students who have graduated with honors with a bachelor's degree from universities in Israel and around the world and are interested in studying for a doctorate in international relations. Students in the program will complete a master's degree during their studies, at the end of which they will take a final exam. At the end of the first two years, the students will continue their doctoral studies, provided that they have passed the final exam and in accordance with the terms of the program.

The program entitles those who receive scholarships to intellectual and livelihood scholarships and employment as practitioners in the IHB department.

תל"ם יחב"ל: התכנית ללימודי מחקר יחסים בין-לאומיים

התכנית ללימודי מחקר (תל"ם) במסגרת המכון ע"ש לאונרד דיוויס ליחסים בין-לאומיים היא תכנית ראשונה מסוגה בארץ, של המחלקה ליחסים בינלאומיים באוניברסיטה העברית, המשלבת תואר שני ודוקטורט במסלול ישיר ותוך חמש שנים. התכנית ביחב"ל נעשית תוך שיתוף עם תכנית מקבילה במדע המדינה.

מטרת התכנית להכשיר דור חדש של חוקרים מעולים ביחסים בין-לאומיים, שיעמדו בחזית המחקר ויהיו מועמדים ראויים למשרות אקדמיות. המחלקה ליחסים בין-לאומיים מקבלת לתכנית מספר קטן של סטודנטים, הזוכים לפטור משכר לימוד, מלגות מחייה ומשרות תרגול.  

התכנית מהווה את חוד החנית של ההכשרה למחקר מתקדם ביחסים בין-לאומיים בישראל. התכנית מאפשרת לתלמידי מחקר לזכות בהכשרה דומה לזו הניתנת באוניברסיטאות מובילות בחו"ל ולסיים מאסטר ודוקטורט בתקופת זמן קצרה (בדומה ל-Graduate School). הקורסים ניתנים ברמה הגבוהה ביותר, תוך שילוב הוראה וכתיבה בשפה האנגלית,  ויחד עם קבוצת סטודנטים בעלת יכולות גבוהות במיוחד.

בכל תקופת הלימודים זוכים הסטודנטים למלגה המאפשרת להם להתרכז בלימודים ומחקר. הסטודנטים זוכים לליווי אישי של מנחה ושל ראש התכנית. התכנית מגבשת קבוצה קטנה ואיכותית של לומדים וחוקרים.

בוגרי התכנית יוכשרו לקראת קריירה אקדמית במוסדות מחקר והשכלה גבוהה. הכשרה זו מאפשרת גם השתלבות במכוני מחקר ממשלתיים, פרטיים וציבוריים כמו גם השתלבות בדרג הבכיר של מחקר וניתוח מדיניות בארגונים בינלאומיים ולאומיים העוסקים בקידום מדיניות. תלמידי התוכנית יזכו בייעוץ והכוונה בקידום הקריירה שלהם ובחברות לעולמות האקדמיה והמחקר.

 

מבנה הלימודים:

בשנתיים הראשונות לתכנית לומדים הסטודנטים תכנית מובנית הכוללת קורסי תשתית לתואר שני מחקרי בתיאוריה ובמתודולוגיה וכן קורסים מתקדמים (ברמת דוקטורט) בביטחון בינלאומי, כלכלה פוליטית בינלאומית, ועוד. עם סיום חלק זה של התכנית וכתנאי מעבר לדוקטורט, על התלמידים לעבור בחינת גמר. סטודנטי התכנית פטורים מכתיבת תזת מ"א. שלוש השנים הבאות מוקדשות למחקר עצמאי ולכתיבת דוקטורט, תחת הנחיה של אחד מחברי הסגל של המחלקה. תכנית הלימודים מועשרת במפגשים ובסדנאות עם חוקרים מובילים בעולם ובעידוד ובתמיכה בלימודים בחו"ל, במסגרות של חילופי סטודנטים ובתי ספר קיץ.

בשנתיים הראשונות (שלב המאסטר) מספר נקודות הזכות לתואר יעמוד על 36 נ"ז. לאחר מכן, כתלמידי דוקטורט, לומדים התלמידים מספר קטן של קורסים (12 נ"ז ) בהתאם לצרכים.
מוזמנים להגיש מועמדות סטודנטי תואר בוגר מצטיינים, שהממוצע שלהם בתואר הראשון עומד על 90 ומעלה ו/או ציון מקביל לאור מנעד הציונים בחוג הרלוונטי. למי שלא למדו תואר ראשון ביחסים בין-לאומיים תבנה תכנית ייחודית הכוללת השלמות.
