Brig. General (Retired) Amnon Sofrin has a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Hebrew University at Jerusalem. His M.A. in Political Science & Security Studies is from Haifa University and his B.A. in Political Science is from Tel Aviv University. BG (ret.) Sofrin is a director at MTI wireless company and a member of the advisory board of 4D group.

Prior to his Ph.D. studies, he served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from 1973 to 2003. He served as the CO of the Combat Intelligence & Reconnaissance School, as the G-2 of Israel's Central Territorial Command, as the head of the Tasking Division within Israel's Military Intelligence, and finally as Chief Combat Intelligence Corps. After retiring from the IDF, BG. Sofrin served as Head of Intelligence Directorate of Israel's Secret Service until 2008.
